Accessible car rental in Greece. Israeli Defense Forces soldiers injured in battle, and Israelis living with disabilities who wanted to travel in Greece, had to forgo their driving independence due to the lack of accessible car rental solutions.
Ofran, an international car rental company, is launching a new initiative where Israelis who need it can rent an accessible car for self-driving from Athens Airport. This initiative was born from the company’s commitment to the community and Israelis with disabilities, after identifying the need for an accessible service that allows independence during travel, including the possibility of renting an accessible vehicle.

The vehicle purchased by Ofran, now available for reservations, is a Volkswagen Caddy Maxi suitable for a driver and 4 passengers. The driver's seat includes a "Left hand control" mechanism for pedal control using a steering wheel knob, and the car is equipped with a lift to allow wheelchair access.

The rental cost will be equitable, priced as a compact-medium automatic category in Evans company, reflecting the commitment to the community, with payments covering maintenance and insurance costs.
Ophir Dnai, CEO of Ofran: "We identified a demand for accessible car rental service abroad, but there are no suitable solutions in popular destinations for Israelis such as Greece and Italy. This step is just the first in addressing this gap, with the aim of increasing the stock of accessible vehicles in Greece and expanding the initiative to other destinations like Italy."
