Air France's New Offering: Free High-Speed Internet on All Flights

Air France equips its new Airbus A350 aircraft with unlimited free Wi-Fi, marking a first for long-haul flights. By the end of 2025, around 30% of the fleet will feature the new technology, with full fleet coverage by the end of 2026. Additionally, the regional fleet will also get Wi-Fi for the first time, alongside redesigned passenger cabins

Air France officially launches its high-speed Wi-Fi service on its flights, a revolutionary step positioning it as the first major European airline to offer fast, free, and stable internet access to all passengers across all service classes.

According to the company, by the end of the year, 30% of its aircraft fleet will be equipped with the system, and by the end of 2026, the service will be available on all flights.

In recent days, the system has been installed on four aircraft: two Embraer 190s and two Airbus A220s.

This week, an Airbus A350 equipped with the technology will join, bringing the service to long-haul flights for the first time. The initiative will later expand to the regional fleet, marking a key milestone in the company's strategy to enhance passenger experience and strengthen its premium status.

Connecting to the service is easy via a Flying Blue account (Air France-KLM Group's frequent flyer program), with non-members able to create an account for free during the flight. The connection allows browsing on multiple devices, including smartphones, tablets, and laptops, enabling continuous communication with family and friends, real-time news reading, watching series and movies, and even playing multiplayer online games.

In aircraft not yet converted to the new system, Air France will continue offering its existing service, a free "messaging route" for Flying Blue members and paid browsing for everyone else.

To ensure fast and reliable connectivity worldwide, the company collaborates with Starlink, the global market leader in satellite communications. The low-earth orbit (LEO) satellite network provides very high-speed connections with low latency, offering passengers a seamless browsing experience almost like at home.

The service launch is part of a broad investment plan of approximately one billion euros to upgrade customer experience, which also includes renewing cabins, lounges, culinary services, and entertainment content on flights.
