Photo: Carrington Tatum / Shutterstock.com Tragic Drama Unfolds at Utah Valley University (Wednesday, September 10, 2025) in front of U.S. media cameras: Charlie Kirk, a conservative, pro-Israel political activist and founder of the organization Turning Point USA, was shot during a lecture to students and succumbed to his injuries.
According to testimonies and videos on social media, during the speech of Kirk, a 31-year-old founder of the conservative student organization, at Turning Point in Utah Valley University, at least one shot was heard, after which Kirk collapsed after being shot in the neck. Blood streamed from the scene of the injury, and the audience fled in panic. Security forces at the scene evacuated the hall within minutes and arrested a suspect who was taken for questioning, but according to reports, he is not the shooter.
Photo: XThe university announced that "the safety of students and staff is a top priority" and that all campus activities have been suspended until further notice. Utah police have launched a comprehensive investigation in collaboration with the FBI, which sent special agents to the scene.
U.S. President Donald Trump eulogized him with a dramatic statement on his social media channel Truth: 'Charlie Kirk, the great and even legendary, has died. No one held the heart of American youth better than him. He was loved and appreciated by everyone, especially by me. Melania and I send our condolences to his beautiful wife Erica and his family. Charlie, we love you.'
Prime Minister Netanyahu also paid tribute: 'Charlie Kirk was murdered because he spoke the truth and defended freedom. A lion-hearted friend to Israel, he fought against lies and stood tall for Judeo-Christian civilization. I spoke with him just two weeks ago and invited him to Israel. Unfortunately, that visit will not happen. We lost an amazing person. His unbounding pride in America and brave belief in freedom of speech will leave a lasting mark. Rest in peace, Charlie Kirk.'
The event sparked heated reactions in the political arena. California Governor Gavin Newsom wrote: “The attack on Charlie Kirk is disgusting, vile, and reprehensible. In the United States of America, we must reject political violence in EVERY form.”
Expressions of solidarity were also heard in Israel. Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar tweeted: “Shocked by the assassination of @charliekirk11. Our thoughts and prayers are with Charlie and his family.”
