While the tourist season is still up and running in Cyprus, airports in the country were shut down for about three hours today by a workers’ strike.

According to information from the Cyprus airport management company, Hermes Airports, the strike, which lasted for about three hours from 11:00 to 14:00, affected roughly 15,000 passengers, with a total of around 50 canceled or delayed flights at the airports of Larnaca and Paphos.

The airline has also announced that it will reschedule all flights and inform passengers accordingly, while advising them to reach out to the airline, travel agents, or ground handling companies to ask about new departure and arrival times.

The general strike, called by unions amid the failed attempt to sign an agreement on payments on the Cost of Living Allowance, is expected to have effects on both the public and private sectors.
