Record Numbers at Heathrow. With record numbers of passengers passing through Heathrow, the summer of 2025 is proving to be the busiest of all time. Last month, August 2025, saw 8 million passengers at the UK's largest airport.

The busiest day was August 1st, with 270,000 passengers in a single day, setting a new record. Terminal 5 also set a new single-day record on August 22nd, with more than 112,000 passengers.

Despite unprecedented passenger volumes, Heathrow, which is on the brink of a major upgrade, reports maintaining service levels with 98% of luggage arriving safely and 96% of passengers waiting less than five minutes at security checks.

Another interesting statistic is a dramatic decrease in passengers choosing to fly without checked luggage - 42% less than last year.

Heathrow CEO, Thomas Woldbye: "August is set to be recorded in history books - Heathrow became the first European airport to handle over eight million passengers in a single month, achieving this while maintaining punctuality and industry-leading service levels. This is an extraordinary achievement, made possible by the collective efforts of our colleagues and airline partners working together to provide excellent service for our passengers and the UK."
