Chopin Airport in Warsaw Reports Historic Peak Month.
Warsaw Airport recorded August 2025 as its strongest month ever, achieving new records both in passenger numbers and cargo activity.
For the first time in its 90 years of operation, Chopin surpassed the 2.5 million passenger mark in a single month, with 2,515,610 travelers.
This represents an impressive 15.6% rise compared to the previous year. On Sunday, August 17, a daily record was also set, with no less than 89,656 passengers passing through the terminal.
During the month, the airport handled 18,146 passenger flights and a total of 19,155 flights. The cargo sector also saw exceptional success: over 11,944 tons of cargo were transported in August, making it the second strongest month in Chopin's history for cargo (following July 2025). Since the beginning of the year, 87,590 tons of cargo have passed through the airport, marking an 18.8% increase.
According to the CEO of the Polish Airport Group, Łukasz Haberski, these achievements are the result of consistent work and strategic vision: “This is an accomplishment for the entire airport team and our business partners. We focus on precisely developing our route network, with an emphasis on the Middle East and Asia, alongside strengthening European destinations.”

Conversely, European destinations continue to prosper. Two-thirds of all passengers from January to August flew within the Schengen Area, totaling approximately 10.47 million passengers (a 14.6% increase), while flights to non-Schengen destinations reached around 5.5 million passengers (an 11.2% increase).
A total of 15.97 million passengers traveled through Chopin since the beginning of the year.
Regarding types of flights, 59% of passengers chose regular flights, 26% opted for low-cost flights, and 15% took charter flights.
The most popular destinations for regular flights: London, Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels, and Frankfurt; for charter flights: Antalya, Marsa Alam, Hurghada, Sharm El-Sheikh, and Rhodes.
In the European index, Poland stands out: in July 2025, Warsaw and Krakow ranked first in the large airport category (10-25 million passengers), with growth rates far exceeding the European average.
The airport in Wrocław entered the top five in the medium airport category.
Alongside this, the airline LOT, which bases its operations at Chopin, ranked second in the Cirium ranking of the most punctual European airlines for takeoff and landing times.
