Steady Air Traffic Across Europe: Europe concluded week 36 of 2025 with an average of 35,296 daily flights, according to EUROCONTROL's weekly report. This represents a minimal decrease of 1.3% compared to the previous week, an increase of 4% over the past year, and most importantly: 1% higher than the pre-COVID traffic levels of 2019.
Leading Airlines
Ryanair Group continues to lead confidently with 3,621 flights per day, a 39% jump from 2019, even though there's a 2% decrease from the previous week.
easyJet maintained its second position (1,858 flights per day), while Turkish Airlines particularly stood out with a 21% increase compared to 2019.
Wizz Air kept on showing a sharp growth rate (+47% from 2019), despite a slight weekly decline.
Busiest Countries and Airports
In terms of countries, total traffic in the top ten countries decreased by 1.3% compared to week 35. Germany was the only country to show a slight increase (+1%), while Greece experienced the sharpest decline (-7%) with the end of the summer tourist season.
Among the ten busiest airports, there was almost complete stability (-0.2%). Munich in Germany climbed the rankings with a +3% increase, while Antalya in Turkey stood out with a 3% decrease.
Punctuality and Service
The report also indicates significant improvements in service metrics: On-time arrivals increased to 73.8% (a 2.1% increase compared to the previous week), while the average Air Traffic Flow Management (ATFM) delay dropped to 3.2 minutes per flight, an impressive decrease of 26%.
The main reasons for delays remain staffing shortages and air traffic control capacity (52%) and severe weather conditions (31%).
