Airlines forge new connections: As part of the OneWorld alliance, Malaysia Airlines and Australia's Qantas announced a new codeshare agreement. The Malaysian carrier will place its code, MH, on 18 of Qantas's domestic routes across Australia. Conversely, Qantas will place its code QF on Malaysia Airlines flights between Kuala Lumpur and key Australian cities - Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney, as well as to Singapore and popular Malaysian destinations. This step correlates with Qantas's significant fleet development recently reported.
This collaboration aligns with Malaysia Airlines' plans to significantly expand its presence in the Australian market later this year. The airline will resume Brisbane services starting November 29, 2025, with five weekly flights, and will increase frequencies to Melbourne and Sydney with three daily flights beginning October 30 and 31, 2025, respectively.
Existing routes to Perth and Adelaide will also benefit from increased frequency, with Perth increasing from 12 to 14 from December 1, 2025, and Adelaide from five to seven weekly flights (a daily flight) starting February 1, 2026. The company highlights this as a significant capacity increase, underlining Malaysia Airlines' commitment to the region.
