Massive sinkhole opens in Bangkok.

Bangkok awoke this morning (September 24) to a massive sinkhole that opened opposite Vajira Hospital on Samsen Road in the Dusit district. According to city governor Chadchart Sittipunt, the cause is a land collapse into a subway tunnel.

A command center has been set up to assess the situation. The main water supply in the area has been cut off to prevent further collapse, and fallen power poles have caused a temporary power outage.

Bangkok authorities state that the hospital is protected due to its strong foundations. Residents have been instructed to avoid the area and follow the authorities' guidelines.
