Unified Train Ticketing System in Czechia. Following intense criticism from the European Union regarding rail systems on the continent, with special emphasis on ticketing systems, a new decision by travel booking platform OMIO is about to bring some important changes.
Thanks to a newly inked partnership with České dráhy, the Czech national rail operator, OMIO is set to offer combined train tickets for long-distance travel both within Czechia and outside the country.
OMIO will feature the full range of routes of the Czech railway and allow ticket purchases and travel bookings to domestic routes, including Prague, Brno, Ostrava, Plzeň, and Český Krumlov, as well as Germany (Berlin, Dresden, Munich), Austria (Vienna, Linz, Graz), Switzerland (Zurich), Slovakia (Bratislava, Košice), Hungary (Budapest), and Poland (Warsaw, Krakow, Katowice).
This is great news for tourists who will no longer have to buy separate tickets with different pricing for each section of their journey.
As we reported earlier this week, significant upgrades in the railway sector are also underway in Poland, where the extension of train routes and improved services are scheduled to begin in December 2025, connecting Warsaw, Krakow, Nowy Targ, and Zakopane with a new high-speed line.
