Greater Manchester Police. Source: @gmpolice on X Adrian Dalby, aged 53, and Melvin Kravitz, aged 66, both residents of the Crumpsall suburb near Manchester, are the victims of the combined ramming and stabbing attack that took place yesterday (Thursday, October 2) in Manchester, UK.
The local police announced that their families have been notified, and specially trained family liaison officers are in contact with them and offering support.
Professionals from the British Home Office will handle the post-mortem examinations this morning.
Chief Detective Inspector Lewis Hughes, who is coordinating the victim response, stated: "My deepest condolences go to Mr. Dalby and Mr. Kravitz’s loved ones during this difficult time."
Manchester Police reported tonight that, according to initial assessments, although official identification "is yet to take place", the main suspect in the attack is Jihad Al-Shamia, aged 35, a British national of Syrian descent.
Moreover, a "suspicious device worn by the attacker during the incident" has also been evaluated and deemed "not to be viable."
In addition to the two fatalities in yesterday’s attack, three more men were seriously injured. One was stabbed, another was hurt by a vehicle involved in the assault, and another individual arrived at the hospital later with injuries likely sustained while stopping the assailant.
