A major disaster in southern India. A bus traveling on the Hyderabad-Bangalore highway caught fire today (October 24, 2025) in the Kurnool region of Andhra Pradesh, killing 25 passengers on the spot.

The Indian state of Karnataka issued an official statement of mourning, which read: "A very unfortunate tragedy. We send our sincere condolences to the bereaved families and wish a speedy recovery to the injured."

They further added that "passenger safety must be non-negotiable. It is essential to establish strict accountability and take immediate corrective measures to prevent such negligence from recurring."

Indian media outlets are reporting an investigation that was opened following the incident to determine what caused the fire that claimed the lives of so many victims who were unable to escape the burning vehicle.
