The veteran British airline is ceasing operations immediately.
The British Civil Aviation Authority announced that Eastern Airways is suspending its operations immediately and canceling all its flights.
Selina Chadha, director of consumer and markets at the British Civil Aviation Authority: "We are urging passengers who were planning to fly with the company not to come to the airport, all Eastern Airways flights have been cancelled. It is recommended that you check the Civil Aviation Authority website for further information."
Shutdown After Nearly Three Decades
The British airline, founded in 1997, operated mainly on regional domestic flights, connecting small airports across the UK, including isolated areas under public service obligation (PSO) arrangements. The airline operated a fleet of around 14 aircraft and served over a million passengers per year.
With its main base of operations at Humberside Airport, the company stood as an important transport player in peripheral areas of the UK, while also operating short international routes from time to time, mainly to France, Ireland, and the Netherlands.

Following the announcement, the company advised its passengers to arrange alternative travel with other airlines, trains, or buses. At the same time, several train companies in the UK announced that they would allow free travel in economy class for employees and passengers for the next two days, upon presentation of an employee ID, a flight ticket, or a reservation confirmation at train stations.
The UK Civil Aviation Authority has issued recommendations for dealing with the situation, emphasizing that passengers who purchased tickets directly from the company using a credit card may be protected under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act, and it is recommended to contact their credit companies for solutions.
For travelers who wish to file a claim with the credit company, a Negative Response Letter is expected to be published soon, which will assist in the filing process.
