Unrest in Tanzania: Local Curfew, Internet Blockades, and International Flight Cancellations

Following unrest that erupted in Tanzania after the elections held on October 29, 2025, there have been reports of severe disruptions in internet access and communications, alongside violent outbreaks and roadblocks, pending election results.

Local authorities have imposed a curfew in several regions, advising citizens to shelter in place. Internet access is blocked, complicating communication and information dissemination.

The U.S. State Department advises American citizens to avoid traveling to Tanzania at this time and to exercise extreme caution if they are in the country.

Meanwhile, many international flights have been canceled; passengers are urged to confirm their flight by phone before heading to the airport.
