Check-in, passport control, lounge access, and boarding - without showing a passport or boarding pass. The aviation giant from the United Arab Emirates, Emirates, announced today (11/03/25) an investment of approximately 85 million Dirhams (about $23 million) in installing more than 200 biometric cameras throughout Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport (DXB).
This new initiative, now underway, allows passengers smooth transit between various checkpoints using only facial recognition. Registration for the system can be done via the airline’s app or at the airport itself.

The new project is a collaboration between Emirates and Dubai's General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFAD), aiming to significantly reduce waiting times and enhance passenger experience. The new cameras can identify a passenger's face from about one meter away, allowing them to pass through checkpoints without presenting a passport or boarding pass..
Adel Al Redha, Chief Operating Officer of Emirates: "The latest biometric developments are part of Emirates' investment in innovation and enhancing customer experience, ensuring speed, efficiency, and accuracy at the terminal."
