Qantas will launch Economy Plus in February 2026. Australia's largest domestic and international airline is set to introduce the new cabin product across its domestic and short-haul international flights, offering passengers more choice with extra legroom seating, priority boarding, and easier access to overhead baggage space.

The service will begin in February 2026 on the Airbus A321XLR, A220, and Boeing 737 aircraft, serving routes across Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands.

Economy Plus seats offer up to 40% more legroom, providing travelers with additional space to stretch out and enjoy a more comfortable journey. The airline is also recognising its most loyal frequent flyers, who will receive complimentary access,

Platinum members and above can select Economy Plus when booking, while Gold members can access it at check-in. Every week, more than 21,000 frequent flyer seats are already reserved at the front of the economy cabin, highlighting the demand for extra comfort.

The new product coincides with Qantas’ ongoing fleet renewal program, which includes 48 next-generation A321XLR aircraft on order. The first two A321XLR planes entered service on the domestic network in September, with a third expected before the end of the year. New A321XLR and A220 aircraft are arriving with Economy Plus seating already installed, while the airline plans to begin retrofitting its 737 fleet in December.

Qantas Group CEO Vanessa Hudson said the introduction of Economy Plus reflects the airline’s focus on giving customers more flexibility and value.

“This is an evolution of our Economy offering and delivers more choice for our customers while recognising our most loyal frequent flyers with expanded benefits, in the areas we know they value the most,” Hudson said.

“We’re always looking for ways to enhance the onboard experience and maximise comfort for our customers. We believe this new seating product will be popular with our corporate and leisure travellers when it launches next year.”

Economy Plus will be available for purchase on 737, A321XLR, and A220 aircraft, including short-haul international routes, with pricing to be announced closer to the February 2026 launch.
