The airports of Larnaca and Paphos in Cyprus are on the verge of a new era of development and expansion.

Hermes Airports and the Government of Cyprus signed an agreement for the phase B expansion works, aimed at meeting the future demands of the evolving global aviation landscape.

Infrastructure Upgrades

The planned expansion will include significant infrastructure upgrades at both major airports, serving as the main entry points to the island of Cyprus. The move is expected to contribute to the country's growth in tourism, connectivity, and the economy, significantly enhancing passenger experience.

Collaboration and Future Development

"We look forward to working together on the project and delivering the best results for both airports," stated the management of Hermes Airports. "The airports in Larnaca and Paphos are the main gateways to the island, and the project will enhance their contribution to the economic, tourism, and connectivity growth of Cyprus."

Hermes Airports further notes that the expansion works will address the future needs of the industry and strengthen Cyprus's position as a leading destination in aviation and tourism.

We should note that data from the Cyprus Tourism Ministry indicates that Cyprus's status as a leading tourist destination in the Mediterranean is strengthening, with a significant increase in the number of visitors over the past year.

This increase reflects not only the geographical proximity and natural attractions of the island but also the ongoing investment in infrastructure, marketing, and improving visitor experience, with Israel already ranking second after the United Kingdom in the number of tourists who visited the island last year, making up 10% of all tourists visiting the neighboring island in the past year.

We should also remind that according to the latest Ben Gurion Airport report, Larnaca surprises by coming ahead of major European capitals like Paris, London, Rome, and Budapest in third place for destinations flown to by Israelis in the past year, with 804,966 passengers and 6.28% of passengers - an increase of 24.65% compared to the same period last year - a great achievement for the neighboring city just a 45-minute flight from Israel.
