Boeing's Success Continues in Dubai. The American aircraft manufacturer announced that the American-Senegalese airline Air Senegal has committed to purchasing nine Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft.
The announcement, made today, during the opening day of the Dubai Air Show, marks Air Senegal's largest commitment for aircraft purchase and its first order from Boeing since 2004.
The addition of the 737-8 MAX to Air Senegal's fleet is expected to enable the airline to expand its regional and international operations, including opening routes from the capital Dakar to secondary cities in Europe, the Middle East, and America.
According to Boeing, the 737-8 MAX is fuel-efficient (20% less) and quieter (50% less noise) compared to previous models.
According to Air Senegal's chief executive officer, Tidiane Ndiayethe, "This order is part of Air Sénégal's strategy to strengthen and modernize its fleet in order to support the expansion of its regional and intercontinental network and reinforce Dakar's position as a leading aviation hub in West Africa."
Earlier, Emirates also announced its acquisition of Boeing aircraft, with a massive deal to purchase 65 new 777-9 aircraft worth $38 billion. Emirates also announced the installation of Starlink high-speed internet across its fleet at no cost. Additionally, the company performed a flyover in Dubai, for the first time featuring its new Airbus A350.
