An unusual incident took place aboard the Grand Republic ferry on the Bridgeport & Port Jefferson line in the U.S.
According to a report from the Port Jefferson Fire Department (PJFD) of the city of Port Jefferson in New York State, a vehicle was severely damaged last Wednesday in an accident on a ferry.
The vehicle became stuck against the wall of the rear ramp on the right side of the ferry. The Port Jefferson Fire Department had to use machinery to pull the vehicle to the upper deck, then, using a mechanical towing device, lower it to the front ramp.
"This was a complex and unusual incident. However, the collaboration between fire department personnel and the ferry personnel led to a safe and productive outcome. Fortunately, only minor injuries were reported by Port Jefferson EMS," the fire station's Facebook post said.
The Port Jefferson Fire Station serves the city and the surrounding area by providing firefighting, medical rescue, emergency, and accident response services, including incidents on ferries that arrive at the local port
