Thailand is the flight destination we searched the most in the past year. In the annual Google search ranking for searches from Israel, the Asian country ranked first - perhaps despite or maybe because of the travel warning level that increased this year.
Thailand is also considered one of the hits British Airways marked for the coming year.
The list is defined as a "destinations" ranking, so it includes both cities and countries, based on the most popular search terms. By the way, last year Sri Lanka came in first place.
The second place in the ranking went, believe it or not, to Eilat.
The southern Israeli resort city still ranks high on holiday search lists, even compared to international destinations.
Eilat (Photo: Shutterstock)The third and surprising place goes to the Greek island of Kefalonia, one of the Ionian islands of Greece located in the west of the country, near Lefkada and Zakynthos. Among other reasons, it reached this prestigious place due to Sundor Airlines' direct flights to the island last summer. But Kefalonia is not the only Greek representative in the ranking.

It should also be noted that despite the absence of many foreign airlines from Israel's skies, Athens is still considered one of the most connected destinations to Ben Gurion Airport even during war times.
On a global scale, Athens is considered a huge tourist hit, with an all-time record in the number of tourists expected to be broken by the end of the year.
