The airline SWISS announced with great sadness the death of a flight attendant from the crew of flight LX 1885, which departed on December 23 from Bucharest to Zurich.
The flight had to make an emergency landing in the city of Graz, Austria, due to an engine failure that caused smoke in the cockpit and passenger cabin.
The flight attendant was taken to a hospital in Graz for treatment, but unfortunately passed away on December 30.
Company CEO Jens Fehlinger stated:
“We are shocked and grieve the loss of our young colleague. His passing has left us all in shock and deep sorrow. Our thoughts are with his family, and we share their heavy grief. We will do everything we can to support them in these difficult times.”
The company's COO Oliver Buchhofer added:
“This is an especially sad day for all of us. The loss of our colleague from the SWISS crew fills us with pain and a sense of helplessness. We will stand together during this difficult period and work with the relevant authorities to understand the circumstances of the event. I would like to express special thanks to the responsible parties in Graz, particularly the local emergency services, who provided professional assistance to the passengers and crew.”
SWISS has promised to continue investigating the circumstances of the event and do everything possible to prevent similar incidents in the future.
