On December 16, 2025, Meyer Werft, one of the most prominent global shipyards manufacturing cruise ships for international shipping companies, officially delivered the Disney Adventure to Disney Cruise Line in Germany.
This way, the Papenburg-based company successfully completed a long journey for the new build. The handover ceremony was held at Meyer Werft shipyard in Bremerhaven, and it was attended by a long list of executives, including DCL’s Portfolio Senior Executive for Project Management, Newbuild and Development, Philip Gennotte, and Project Management Executive Mike Davie, alongside members of the Disney Adventure crew.
They were joined by Meyer Werft’s Chief Executive Officer, Bernd Eikens.
“A new adventure begins! As Disney Cruise Line and shipbuilder Meyer Werft finalized the handover of the ship, the Disney Adventure is now one step closer to calling Singapore home,” a company statement in a Facebook post from Disney Cruise Line said.
The ship was initially planned for Dream Cruises under the name Global Dream. According to the new plans, the ship will be repositioned to Singapore where it is scheduled for launch on March 10, 2026. The original launch of the vessel that can carry 6,700 passengers has been previously slated for December 15, 2025, a date that was postponed due to delays in manufacturing.
The ship will be the largest in Disney Cruise Line's fleet as well as the pioneering vessel to homeport in Asia.
