Time Tunnel: The Flight Took Off in 2025 and Landed in 2024. How Did This Happen?

United flight from Guam to Honolulu in Hawaii lasted 6 hours and 43 minutes, but at the end of it - returned to last year. See the flight data

Flying to the past? Turns out it's possible. United Airlines flight UA200 managed to do the impossible.

The company's Boeing 777 took off on 1.1.25 (today) from Guam at 07:26 local time. The flight was on its way to Honolulu in Hawaii, one of the last places on earth to receive the new calendar year.

And so, according to Hawaiian time, the flight landed at 18:28 - yesterday, meaning on 31.12.24, and managed to "return to last year".

The airline was amused by the anecdote and posted the flight details on its X account (formerly Twitter), showing the text (1-day), which means arrival is one day less. And so they managed to demonstrate that one day in the year, it's possible to fly to the past.
