Salam Air, Oman's low-cost carrier operating for almost a decade, has announced the opening of ticket sales for a new direct route between the capital, Muscat, and Vienna. This is the first scheduled flight connecting Oman directly with Austria, and is expected to begin operations on June 24, 2026.

The new route marks a milestone in Salam Air's international expansion and aligns with Oman's aviation and tourism goals, particularly under the company's "Vision 2040" plan, which focuses on growth in Europe. The route is expected to contribute to inbound tourism to Oman and strengthen its position as a regional gateway connecting Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

The flights will operate three times a week on Salam Air's Airbus A321 fleet. In addition, through the company's hub in Muscat, passengers will be able to continue to key destinations in Asia and the Middle East, including Bangkok, Colombo, Mumbai, Baku, and more.

Steven Allen, Slam Air's chief commercial officerThe addition of Vienna reflects our focused approach to network growth in Europe. Austria is a growing market for both inbound and outbound travel, and this non-stop service allows us to meet demand with a competitive, cost-efficient offering."
