Rolls-Royce and Turkish Technic, the technical arm of Turkish Airlines, have announced the start of construction work on an advanced jet engine maintenance center at Istanbul Airport.
The new centre will complement Rolls-Royce’s global maintenance footprint and meet the growing demand for jet engines for large commercial aircraft. When operational, by the end of 2027, the facility will provide comprehensive maintenance services for the Trent XWB-97, Trent XWB-84 and Trent 7000 engines that power the Airbus A350 and A330neo.
The facility is designed to handle up to 200 engine maintenance operations per year and is expected to be one of the largest of its kind in the region. The center will provide services for Turkish Airlines aircraft and other airlines.
The move comes on the heels of a large order placed by Turkish Airlines in late 2023 for Airbus A350 aircraft, making it the world's largest operator of Trent XWB engines. The order included 120 Trent XWB-84 engines and 40 Trent XWB-97 engines.

“We’re significantly increasing our global MRO capacity by 2030, and today’s announcement marks another step on that journey. It reinforces our strong partnership with Turkish Airlines – whose fleet of Airbus A350s will be supported by this facility – and underlines Turkish Technic’s commitment to become a leading provider of civil large aero engine MRO."
