Fatal accident in Thailand.
This morning (Wednesday, January 14, 2026), a serious accident occurred at a construction site for a double-track railway project in the C.K. area of Nakhon Ratchasima Province, when a heavy crane collapsed on a passenger train passing by.
The crane collapsed directly onto Express Train No. 21, which was traveling on the Bangkok-Ubon Ratchathani line, and three of its carriages were severely damaged, while the second carriage caught fire.

Their bodies were found inside one of the carriages. More than 30 passengers were injured, and intensive rescue operations are still ongoing, with passengers trapped in the wreckage being pulled out and taken to nearby hospitals.
However, reports indicate that the death toll is significantly higher, and that dozens of people were pulled from the cars lifeless.
Eyewitnesses reported that the crane collapsed just as the train passed the site, apparently due to a technical failure in the equipment. The impact caused the train to veer off course and overturn on the side of the road, after which a fire broke out in one of the carriages.
The State Railway of Thailand issued an official condolence message following the incident, which read: "We express deep sorrow over the fatal work accident on the high-speed rail project, which led to the derailment of train number 21. We share the grief of the families of the deceased and wish a speedy recovery to the injured. At this time, the investigation into the circumstances of the incident and the examination of all safety aspects are ongoing."
