The airports in two cities in the east of the country, Rzeszow and Lublin, have reopened and returned to routine operations, after temporarily suspending their operations this morning (January 20, 2026).
According to the Polish Civil Aviation Authority and the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency (PANSA), the reason for the temporary closure was to allow military aircraft to operate freely.
According to the official announcement published in the early hours of the morning, "Operations at Rzeszów and Lublin airports have been temporarily suspended to ensure freedom of operation for military aircraft." Around 10:00 am, a return-to-normality announcement was published, stating simply, "The airports in Rzeszow and Lublin have resumed flight operations."
Polish government officials have not commented on the matter, and military aircraft are still operating in the area. No further details about the activity were provided.
