Meet the first plug-in model from BYD to arrive in Israel: BYD Seal U DM-i.
The Chinese car brand BYD, which entered Israel about two years ago with the popular ATTO 3 model, continues to expand its local lineup. Alongside models like Tang, Han, Dolphin, Seal U, and Seal, the new crossover BYD Seal U Plug-in (DM-i) joins as the brand's first vehicle with this type of drive in Israel.

Photo: Ira Makienko This vehicle combines a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with an electric motor, offering pure electric driving capability for short distances, alongside fuel savings. The new model is available in two versions: the Boost version with front-wheel drive and a combined output of 218 hp, and the Design version with all-wheel drive and a combined output of 324 hp.
BYD SEAL U Plug-in. Photo: Ira Makienko The front-wheel drive version (Boost) offers an electric range of 80 km, while the all-wheel drive version (Design) offers a range of 70 km. The combined range reaches up to 1,000 km for the Boost version and 870 km for the Design version.

Photo: Ira Makienko The SEAL U Plug-in is equipped in the passenger cabin, including a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital dashboard, wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as an automatic software update system. Among other accessories, heated and ventilated seats, a V2L function that allows external devices to connect to the vehicle, and two wireless phone charging pads are included.
The vehicle also includes a variety of advanced safety systems such as adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot detection, and cross traffic detection.
BYD SEAL U Plug-in. Photo: Ira Makienko As for pricing, the Boost version (front-wheel drive) is offered at 209,990 ₪, while the Design version (all-wheel drive) is sold for 234,990 ₪.
By 2025, the SEAL 05 DM-i is expected to arrive, a plug-in sedan with an electric range of about 90 km. All prices include VAT and taxes expected for 2025.
