This Valentine's Day: Standing on top of Alexandra Palace, the popular entertainment and sports venue located in North London between Wood Green and Muswell Hill, just 20 minutes from the heart of the city, Summit, Ally Pally Rooftop Adventure promises something truly unique: the highest roof walk in the UK.

Starting February 14, 2026, the fresh attraction will put visitors right above one of the city’s most storied landmarks, which was originally built to serve the burgeoning population of North London. This is not about rushing to the top and snapping a quick photo, but about slowing down, taking in where you are, and seeing London from a perspective very few people ever experience.

25 Miles of Breathtaking Views

The journey begins at the East Court Entrance before you’re safely guided up onto the Palace roof. From there, the city opens up in every direction. At 130 metres above sea level, the views stretch for more than 25 miles on a clear day, with uninterrupted sightlines across London and into four surrounding counties. You can pick out famous skyscrapers, major stadiums, and neighbourhoods that suddenly make sense when seen from above. The list of big landmarks to keep an eye includes St Paul’s Cathedral, The Shard, and, of course, the breathtaking City skyline.

What makes Summit special is the way it cleverly blends views with history. Alexandra Palace has been standing for more than 150 years and has played a role in everything from early television broadcasts to major cultural events and festivals. Walking across its roof gives you a new appreciation for that past, quite literally standing above decades of change while looking out over modern London. It is a reminder of how much the city has evolved and how places like Ally Pally continue to anchor it.

No Climbing Experience Needed

The experience is designed to be accessible and welcoming. No previous climbing or adventure experience is needed, and trained staff guide you throughout. Participants must be at least eight years old, with parental consent required for anyone under 18. There are weight and harness size limits for safety, and all participants complete an online waiver before taking part. As you’d expect, anyone under the influence of drugs or alcohol, pregnant, or dealing with a medical condition that could pose a risk is not permitted to join.

Summit also works well for groups. Charities, schools, and private parties of more than 10 people can arrange exclusive climbs, making it a memorable option for team outings or special occasions. The full experience lasts around 60 minutes, giving you plenty of time to take in the views without feeling rushed.

Tickets start from £28 for adults and £22 for youth, and the attraction is set to open in 2026.
