Tragedy at Takeoff: Private Plane Crashes in Maine During Takeoff

A private jet with eight passengers on board has crashed during takeoff at Maine's Bangor airport. The US Federal Aviation Administration has launched an investigation into the incident involving a Bombardier Challenger 600

A Bombardier Challenger 600 crashed last night (January 25, 2026) during takeoff from Bangor International Airport in Maine.

The incident occurred around 7:45 p.m. local time. According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), eight people were on board.

At this time, no further official details have been released regarding the condition of the passengers or crew members.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) announced that they have opened an investigation into the incident, the circumstances of which are still unclear. 

The tragedy occurred amid a major winter storm that has been sweeping the country, including the Northeast, with thousands of flights cancelled.
