Searching for flights can be surprisingly frustrating and time- and energy-consuming for many people. Travel agencies often submit numerous requests to airline systems to check availability and pricing, which slows search results and increases operational costs. Other possible consequences include timeouts and inconsistent results for both agents and travelers, as each new query eats up system capacity, making each search more expensive and harder to manage.

Sabre Corporation, the leading software and technology company powering the global travel industry, has developed Cache-powered Intelligent Shopping to tackle this issue. The new technology is capable of returning accurate, bookable flight options in under half a second while maintaining up to 95% alignment with live airline offers

By reducing the need to repeatedly poll airline systems, agencies can deliver results faster, avoid failed searches, and keep operations running smoothly. The platform uses predictive validation to determine when live data is needed and when cached results remain reliable, enabling agencies to handle high volumes efficiently.

Wego, the global travel metasearch platform, has already seen measurable benefits. “We started co-developing with Sabre 24 months ago, anticipating agentic flight shopping where look-to-book ratios increase asymptotically,” said Ross Veitch, CEO and Co-founder of Wego.

Sabre's multi-source solution brings GDS, NDC, and LCC content into a single data cube, pre-generated offers at sub-second response times, cost-effectively at scale. It's core to making Wego the travel app for the discerning AI,” Veitch added.

Unlike older systems that rely solely on live polling or static caches, Sabre’s solution leverages Sabre IQ predictive algorithms to decide intelligently when to query airlines and when to use cached data. Early deployments show up to a 28% reduction in look-to-book ratios, 95% accuracy against live results, and search times consistently under 500 milliseconds.

Garry Wiseman, Chief Product & Technology Officer at Sabre, spoke about the way Intelligent Shopping pairs smart AI decisioning with ongoing offer validation, allowing agencies to “reduce look-to-book ratios, protect against airline penalties, and convert more shoppers without hand-tuning rules or stitching together multiple systems.”

The platform's advantages for agencies and developers include a unified workflow, consistent speed, and improved operational efficiency.

Part of the SabreMosaic Travel Marketplace, Cache-powered Intelligent Shopping combines multiple content sources with scalable APIs, helping travel brands modernize shopping and grow more efficiently.
