Lufthansa has announced that its flights on Thursday, February 12, 2026, are expected to be affected by a strike by flight crews, initiated by the Vereinigung Cockpit and UFO labor unions.
The company announced that it is adjusting its flight schedule and immediately prioritizing passenger transfers to alternative flights.
Passengers whose flights are affected by the strike are now being rebooked. Those who have already received confirmation of their booking will receive personal notifications via email or in the Lufthansa app regarding the flight cancellation and rebooking options. The company asks passengers for patience during this process.
Passengers are also advised to check the current flight status before arriving at the airport. In addition, it is recommended to save contact details or create a personal Travel ID in the “My Booking” system to receive real-time updates during the trip.
In the event of a flight cancellation, Lufthansa will automatically rebook passengers on an alternative flight at no charge and send a message to their mobile phone. If you have not received a message, please check your booking status on the website or rebook yourself. You can also contact the company's chatbot for assistance.
Additionally, for domestic flights in Germany, passengers can exchange their flight ticket for a Deutsche Bahn train ticket at no additional cost. The ticket is valid on the day of issue and the day after (except for City Night Line trains). Passengers with a connecting flight from Frankfurt are advised to allow sufficient time to transfer from the train to the airport.
Lufthansa expressed regret for the inconvenience and thanked passengers for their understanding.
