The International Air Transport Association (IATA) releases the November results, showing that overall demand for air travel increased by 8.1% compared to November 2023. The load factor for November was 83.4%, a record high for this month. International demand rose by 11.6% compared to November 2023. Significant numbers were recorded in Europe and Asia.
However, the main focus of IATA's monthly report is not on the numbers but on the words of the International Air Transport Association's CEO, Willie Walsh, who criticizes airplane manufacturers in his monthly statement.
Willie Walsh, CEO of IATA (Photo: IATA) "November was yet another month of strong growth in flight demand and served as a further reminder of supply chain issues preventing airlines from getting the number of planes they need to meet the increasing demand."
He also said that "airlines are missing opportunities to serve their customers better, innovate their products, and improve environmental performance because the planes are not delivered on time."
Walsh concluded by saying, "The industry must find a quick and durable solution to the supply chain issues."
