Policeman Killed and Two Injured in Explosion Near Train Station in Central Moscow

Highly unusual incident in the heart of the Russian capital: A policeman was critically injured in an explosion and died at the scene, outside a main train station. The official Russian news agency TASS reports that a traffic policeman was killed and two other police officers were injured in an explosion that occurred near the Savyolovsky train station in Moscow.

Russian police investigators have opened an investigation into the incident that took place last night (February 24, 2026) outside the train station. According to authorities, analysis of security camera footage indicates that the attacker was killed at the scene.

The policeman who was killed was critically injured and succumbed to his injuries. The other two were taken to a city hospital for medical treatment.

Investigators and law enforcement personnel continue to operate at the scene of the incident this morning, with the motive and identity of the assailant not being released to the public.
