UK Citizens Urged to Register with the Foreign Office for Updates

With Gulf airspace closed, British nationals in Israel, Bahrain, Qatar, and UAE must register with FCDO for updates and read the official guide on staying safe indoors and seeking shelter: "Remain indoors in a secure location, avoid all travel and follow instructions from the local authorities"

As the British Foreign Office is currently working on potential evacuation plans and routes provided the airspace in the Gulf region will stay closed, UK citizens currently stranded in Israel, Bahrain, Qatar, and the UAE have been urged to register their presence with the Foreign Office online in order to receive emergency updates.

“Due to reported missile attacks, British nationals in Bahrain should immediately shelter in place. Remain indoors in a secure location, avoid all travel and follow instructions from the local authorities”, the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) explains. 

“Regional escalation poses significant security risks and has led to travel disruption”, FCDO adds. 

British nationals are advised to:

-read guidance on “how to prepare for a crisis” to learn what they should include in their emergency supplies as well as “what to do in a crisis” 

-closely follow any advice from the local authorities 

-sign up to receive real-time alerts and information 

-sign up to FCDO Travel receive advice emails

-keep a close eye on local as well as international media to receive the latest information 

-steer clear from areas nearby security and military facilities 

-constantly review their departure plans 

-ensure all travel documents are updated and at hand

-stay indoors or look for the nearest safe building or designated shelter in case they are prompted to seek shelter. This can include interior stairwells and rooms with limited external walls or windows.
