Lufthansa has announced the launch of a new direct flight between Frankfurt, Germany, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, as part of its expansion in Southeast Asia. The new route will begin operations on October 25, 2026, and will operate throughout the year with a frequency of five flights per week, every day except Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Flight LH704 will depart Frankfurt at 21:30 and arrive in Kuala Lumpur at 16:40 the next day (local time). The return flight LH705 will depart Kuala Lumpur at 23:55 and arrive in Frankfurt at 06:00 the next day. The flight times have been designed to allow convenient connections to the airline's international network of destinations via Frankfurt Airport.

The route will be operated by the company's new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, one of the most advanced and efficient aircraft in the Lufthansa fleet. The aircraft features 287 seats in three service classes and will offer passengers the company's new class concept, Allegris.

Lufthansa Airlines CEO Jens Ritter said: “With the new nonstop connection to Kuala Lumpur and the deployment of our state-of-the-art Dreamliner, we are creating ideal conditions to participate in the growth in Southeast Asia. The innovative Allegris cabin offers our guests the highest level of comfort and underscores our premium aspiration to offer both leisure and business travelers a first-class travel experience.

Malaysia is considered one of the most sought-after destinations in the region for both tourism and business. In 2025, the country was visited by approximately 42.2 million tourists, making it the most visited country in Southeast Asia. In addition, it is a significant economic market for Germany, with more than 700 German companies operating in the country.

With the launch of the route, Lufthansa will be the only airline to operate direct flights to Malaysia from the Lufthansa Group's home markets of Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, and Italy. Kuala Lumpur will become the group's fourth destination in Southeast Asia, alongside Bangkok, Singapore, and Phuket.
