The United Arab Emirates' Ministry of Defense announced that two security forces members were killed today (Monday, March 9) after a military helicopter crashed while performing a mission as part of their service.

According to the official statement of the UAE Ministry of Defense, the crash occurred due to a technical malfunction in the helicopter, while the crew was performing their duties as part of an operational activity in the country. The Ministry of Defense expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of the two soldiers and said that they were “killed while fulfilling their national duty.”

In a recent statement issued this morning by the UAE Ministry of Defense, it was stated that the country's air defense systems are working to intercept ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles launched from Iran. The official statement noted that the sounds and explosions heard in several areas across the country are the result of the air defense systems intercepting the threats. It was also stated that the Emirati Air Force fighter jets are working in parallel to intercept UAVs and roving aircraft, as part of dealing with the aerial threats.
