Air Canada issued a warning to passengers following a forecast of severe freezing rain expected to hit the cities of Montreal, Ottawa, and Quebec on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.

The forecast indicates a risk of significant flight delays, possible cancellations, and difficulties with airport logistics, especially for flights departing and arriving in these areas.

Freezing rain could significantly reduce the safety of takeoffs and landings, disrupt fleet operations, and cause ground handling constraints. Montreal (YUL), Ottawa (YOW), and Quebec City (YQB) airports are expected to experience flight delays, particularly for domestic and international flights. These delays could affect additional passenger connections beyond these cities.

The company urges passengers to check their flight status via the Air Canada app or the company's official website. In addition, the company allows flexible flight date changes or rebooking, at no additional charge, to avoid inconvenience to passengers in cases of cancellation or delay. Notifications and updates on flight status are sent directly to mobile phones or emails to anyone who has booked a ticket, but it is recommended to double-check at check-in.
