Following the announcement of the pilots' strike by the Vereinigung Cockpit union, which will take place today, Thursday (March 12) and tomorrow, Friday (March 13), Lufthansa has published a detailed update for passengers and instructions on how to act in the event of a flight cancellation or change.
According to the company's announcement, a special flight schedule has been published for the strike days, within which the company is expected to operate more than 50% of the original flights. Broader activity is expected on long-haul flights, with about 60% of flights expected to operate as planned.
Lufthansa emphasizes that passengers whose flights have been canceled or changed have already received a proactive notification from the company, while passengers who have not received an update can, at this point, assume that their flight is not affected by the strike. The company recommends that passengers check the flight status on the official website before arriving at the airport.
Lufthansa notes that due to the load on the service centers, there may be long waiting times, and therefore, it is recommended to use the company's digital services to check flight status or change a reservation.
The company estimates that air activity will largely return to the normal schedule starting Saturday, March 14.
