According to the latest guidelines, updated on March 18 and still current today, March 19, there is a severe warning against travel to the border areas between Egypt and Libya, except for the town of A-Salloum. The same no-travel warning is extended to the North Sinai Governorate. In addition, the FCDO advises British nationals to avoid non-essential travel to parts of northern South Sinai, east of the Suez Canal in Ismailia Governorate, and to large areas of the Western Desert.

A number of major tourist destinations are exempted from the restrictions, including Luxor, Aswan, Abu Simbel, and the Valley of the Kings, along with other areas such as Fayoum, Siwa, and some of the main roads in the desert.

"There is a heightened risk of regional tension. Escalation could lead to travel disruption and other unanticipated impacts. British nationals should take sensible precautions, considering their own individual circumstance."

Meanwhile, it was reported that international borders in the Israel and Palestinian Authority region could be closed at short notice, including the Taba crossing between Israel and Egypt.

In light of the war and global tensions, many travel warnings are being issued in various countries. On March 17, a travel warning for the Netherlands was issued in the US, due to fears of terrorist attacks.
