One of the world's largest airlines, United Airlines, announced that it has begun selling tickets for the newest and most advanced aircraft in its fleet, the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which features the new design concept, the "Elevated Interior".
The plane, first unveiled last year, has undergone a complete redesign and features 99 premium seats, a particularly high percentage compared the rest of American carriers. The company is also introducing new suites, "United Polaris Studio", eight seats that are 25% wider than existing business seats, with direct aisle access, a full-reclining option, and other upgrades.
30 Aircraft to Feature the Expansion Until Next Year
The first international flight, UA1, is expected to take off on April 22 from San Francisco Airport to Singapore. A second route to London will follow on April 30. In the coming weeks, the aircraft is also expected to operate domestic flights in the United States for training purposes.
The new aircraft offers an upgraded in-flight experience across all classes, including 4K OLED screens in every seat, Bluetooth connectivity, charging sockets, and more spacious seats. Business class will feature fully lie-flat seats, upgraded amenity kits, and expanded food services, while Premium and Economy classes will feature enhanced comfort and technology.
The airline says it intends to operate at least 30 aircraft of this model with the new design by 2027, as part of its expansion of international flight offerings and upgrade to the customer experience.
