More and more companies are joining the high-speed internet service in the sky. The latest to do so is British Airways. The aviation company has launched a fast, free satellite internet service, becoming the first British airline to operate the technology.
The inaugural flight, a 787-8 to Houston, was the first in the airline's fleet to experience the new service. The system, based on Starlink technology, enables fast and reliable internet connectivity throughout the flight, from takeoff to landing. Passengers can use multiple devices simultaneously to work, surf, watch content, and stay connected, with download speeds of over 500 Mbps.
At this stage, the company has begun implementing the system on 787-8 aircraft, with additional aircraft already undergoing installation. According to the plan, within about two years, the company's entire fleet of over 300 aircraft will be equipped with the new technology, which will be available to all passengers across all flight classes at no additional cost.

The launch is part of the company's broad plan to invest in upgrading the customer experience, which includes a total investment of approximately £7 billion, alongside the development of new lounges and the use of advanced technologies to improve flight timing accuracy.
