The National Weather Service (NWS) also issued severe weather alerts for conditions expected to persist for over 30 hours. Extreme cold with temperatures dropping to 10-15 degrees Fahrenheit (-12 to -9 degrees Celsius) was reported, along with snow storms, winds, and dangerous ice formation on roads.

Meanwhile, public transportation services in the city are expected to face widespread disruptions, with all bus services being suspended starting today at 9:00 p.m. (U.S. time) due to anticipated weather conditions and road hazards. Train lines will operate on a reduced schedule, with many changes in timetables and routes.
Due to anticipated inclement weather and icy road conditions, all METRO services will be suspended for the evening beginning at 9 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 20, 2025. On Tuesday, Jan. 21, service plans could change depending on weather conditions.
