Tampa International Airport has been rewarded with the prestigious 2026 ISSA Spotless Space of the Year, highlighting its excellence in cleanliness, safety, and overall visitor experience. The honor places the airport ahead of several well-known destinations, including the American Museum of Natural History, Central Park Conservancy, and the Shedd Aquarium.

The award is presented by ISSA, a global association focused on cleaning and facility solutions, and celebrates organizations that consistently maintain high standards across their spaces. Tampa International Airport earned the distinction after first being named a finalist earlier this year.

Airport officials credited the achievement to the ongoing efforts of the cleaning teams who work behind the scenes every day. Chief Operating Officer John Tiliacos took the opportunity to praise the strong partnership with Flagship Aviation Services, the company responsible for janitorial operations at the airport for more than a decade.

“This recognition is a reflection of the dedication and hard work of our Flagship Aviation Services team members, who take pride in keeping every corner of our Airport spotless. We are incredibly proud of the strong partnership we’ve built with Flagship and deeply appreciate the reliability, professionalism, and care their employees bring to Tampa International Airport every day.”

Flagship Aviation Services maintains the airport’s terminals, restrooms, and public areas around the clock. Their staff works year-round to ensure the facility meets strict hygiene and presentation standards, even during peak travel periods.

The award was officially presented at an ISSA ceremony held in Washington, D.C., where representatives from both the airport and Flagship accepted the recognition.

For Tampa International Airport, the honor reinforces its reputation as one of the top airports in the United States when it comes to passenger comfort and cleanliness. It also reflects the growing importance travelers place on hygiene and well-maintained public spaces.

Airport officials say the recognition belongs as much to the frontline workers as it does to the organization itself. Their daily efforts help create a welcoming environment for millions of passengers each year, turning routine travel into a more pleasant and reliable experience.
