Cathay Pacific has launched a new direct flight route between Hong Kong and Seattle, operating five times a week.
This is the company's first direct route between Hong Kong and Washington, and it joins the company's expanding network of destinations in North America, which now includes nine major destinations.
The new route, operated by Airbus A350-900 aircraft, will feature lie-flat business class, premium economy, and economy class. Flights will depart Hong Kong in the afternoon and land in Seattle in the morning, with return flights at local time.
The line was launched as part of the company's 80th anniversary celebrations, with the inaugural flight being operated using a special aircraft with a festive design.
Lavinia Lau, VP of Customer and Commerce: “As we celebrate ‘80 Years Together’ connecting Hong Kong with the world, the launch of our Seattle service highlights the deepening ties between two global centres of innovation, culture, and commerce. Seattle’s spirit of creativity and entrepreneurship mirrors Hong Kong’s own energy, making this route especially meaningful for us.”
Lau also noted that: “This new service not only enhances connectivity for business and leisure travellers, but also reinforces our role in supporting Hong Kong’s position as a leading international aviation hub.”
At the same time, the company continues to expand its operations in North America, and is expected to operate approximately 120 round-trip flights per week during the summer to destinations such as New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, Vancouver, and now Seattle.
In addition to passenger activity, the new line is also expected to strengthen the cargo sector, with increased capacity supply on flights to the region.
