From Next Summer: Unlimited Messaging on Long Haul Flights of the Lufthansa Group.

Lufthansa has announced that starting from next summer, passengers will be able to send and receive unlimited messages, including photos, on its long-haul flights to destinations like the USA, Brazil, and Japan.

The service, which will be offered free of charge, is available in all flight classes and can be used through common apps on smartphones and tablets.

Dieter Vranckx, Chief Commercial Officer of the Lufthansa Group, emphasized the importance of this initiative: "Adding free messaging services on long-haul flights is another significant step in enhancing our customers’ flight experience. We will continue to focus on relevant services that meet the needs of our passengers."

The service is already successful on Lufthansa's short and medium-haul flights and is now expanding to intercontinental routes.

Heiko Reitz, Chief Customer Experience Officer of Lufthansa Airlines, added: "The ability to stay connected even during a long flight is now a basic need and a crucial factor in choosing an airline. Free messaging service and internet connection options during the flight are an integral part of the service we offer our customers."

The service will also be available on long-haul flights of other companies in the Lufthansa Group, SWISS, and Austrian Airlines, which have already begun offering this option during 2024 on short and medium-haul flights.
