Colombia's International Airport Temporarily Suspends Operations

The state aviation authority announced that Colombia's international airport will resume activity in accordance with an assessment of the security situation. Passengers are asked to check with the airlines and follow official announcement

Temporary suspension of operations at Palonegro International Airport (BGA) in Colombia.

According to a NOTAM (Notice to Aviation) announcement published by Aeronáutica Civil Colombia, the government authority responsible for all civil aviation in Colombia, operations at the airport will be resumed resumed based on "security conditions, once full guarantees for air navigation and land transit are in place."

The authority's X post mentioned that, "in response to the current situation in the department of Santander, as of 5:30 p.m. local time (HL), NOTAM D0292 has been issued, ordering the temporary closure of all operations at Palonegro Airport, which serves the city of Bucaramanga."

The announcement further added that "the resumption of air activities will be strictly contingent upon the evolution of security conditions and the instructions issued by the Public Forces."

"Check with your airline and follow official channels. We reiterate our unwavering commitment to operational safety and the well-being of the publicspecify the reason for the temporary suspension."

Palonegro International Airport is located near the city of Bucaramanga, in northeastern Colombia, and mainly serves the Santander department area, which is about a 30-40 minute drive from the city center, on a mountain range above the valley in which Bucaramanga is located.
