Air India ushered in its first retrofitted, twin-aisle B787-8, registered VT-ANT, marking the completion of a nose-to-tail cabin upgrade of the first of 26 B787 aircraft.

"This is just the beginning of a transformed flying experience for our guests as these twin-aisle aircraft serve several long-haul destinations across the UK, Europe, USA and Far East," said the company in an announcement.

The aircraft received numerous interior upgrades in California, at Boeing’s Modification Center in Victorville and was also painted in Air India’s "striking new livery" at AeroPro. The latter is an FAA Part 145-certified aircraft paint facility located in San Bernardino, California.

As per the necessary regulatory certifications and clearances, the retrofitted aircraft flew non-stop from San Bernardino to Delhi over the Pacific, and landed at 22:44 (India time) on APril 13, 2026.
