Spain's Aena (Aeropuertos Españoles y Navegación Aérea), the world's largest airport operator by passenger numbers, has introduced a new “silent airport” concept at Seville Airport, removing most public-address announcements to create a calmer, more comfortable passenger experience.

Under the new system, routine loudspeaker announcements have been eliminated, while essential boarding calls made by airlines will still be broadcast.

Passengers are encouraged to instead use digital tools, including more than 200 information screens spread across the terminal and the Aena mobile app, both offering real-time flight updates.

The move aligns with a growing trend among airports worldwide to reduce noise levels and improve the overall travel environment.
