SAS and Air Europa Expand Connectivity with New Codeshare Partnership
SAS and Air Europa have partnered to enhance travel connectivity between Scandinavia and the Iberian Peninsula. This new codeshare agreement broadens both airlines' networks, offering SAS customers access to 12 key destinations across Spain and Portugal, while Air Europa passengers gain seamless connections to SAS' extensive Scandinavian network.
Under the agreement, SAS will place its code on Air Europa flights from Madrid-Barajas to popular Spanish cities such as Alicante, Barcelona, Vigo, Málaga, A Coruña, Bilbao, Palma de Mallorca, Gran Canaria, and Tenerife Norte, as well as Lisbon and Porto in Portugal.
Conversely, Air Europa travelers will benefit from increased access to Scandinavia, including SAS' upcoming direct flights between Madrid and its primary hub in Copenhagen, launching on April 11, 2025. The partnership will also provide connections to major Scandinavian destinations such as Aarhus, Stockholm, Gothenburg, Oslo, Trondheim, Stavanger, and Bergen.
“We are excited to announce our new codeshare partnership with Air Europa, offering our customers more travel options to the Iberian Peninsula. With SAS’ daily flights from Copenhagen to Madrid, we are strengthening connectivity between Scandinavia and key Spanish destinations. This collaboration allows both airlines to provide seamless travel experiences backed by the strength of the SkyTeam alliance,” said Paul Verhagen, Chief Commercial Officer at SAS.
Starting this summer, SAS customers will also have access to additional destinations within Air Europa’s broader network, including popular locations in North Africa, the Caribbean, and South America, such as Marrakech, Punta Cana, Santo Domingo, and Salvador de Bahia.
Air Europa’s Commercial Director, Imanol Pérez, expressed confidence in the agreement’s success, stating, “This partnership with SAS expands customer choices by adding 20 new routes to our joint offering. Through codesharing, passengers can enjoy simplified flight planning and consistent service quality, thanks to our shared SkyTeam alliance membership.”
The agreement was officially signed at Fitur, the International Tourism Fair in Madrid, on January 23, 2025. This partnership underscores the strong cooperation within SkyTeam, enabling both airlines to extend their global reach while maintaining high standards of service and passenger experience.
